Visit Pointe-à-Pitre behind the wheel of a rental car
Pointe-à-Pitre is especially known for its exciting markets where fisherman sell their catch directly from their boats in the port. But make sure to also visit the Place de la Victoire, a large park where you can relax and admire older homes. The Saint-John Perse museum is another interesting stop with its 19th-century colonial-style building.
Because you have a rental car, you can also easily explore the region surrounding Pointe-à-Pitre at your own speed. For fun, colourful nightlife, visit the town of Gosier, 7 km from Pointe-à-Pitre, where you will find most of the nightclubs on the island. Want to enjoy the sunshine? Head to Sainte-Anne, a coastal town lined with beaches and markets.
With your rental car, it will also be easy to visit the Cascade aux Écrevisses national park, a site visited by more than 200,000 tourists each year. Admire the little 10-metre-high waterfall. Nearby parking lets you access the site quickly when you arrive by car. You can even swim in the natural basin carved in the rock.
